Indio is the largest and fastest growing city in Riverside County’s Coachella Valley. Known as the “City of Festivals,” Indio hosts numerous worldrenowned festivals each year including, the Date Festival, the Riverside County Fair, Stagecoach, and the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. Raimi + Associates was hired to restart the General Plan Update process, leading preparation of the General Plan Update, a qualified Climate Action Plan, and an Environmental Impact Report. The General Plan places a renewed emphasis on urban structure and community character. The Plan clearly identifies the areas to focus future public and private investment and provides additional guidance on development form and character to help create walkable neighborhoods in Downtown and Midtown and along the City's commercial corridors. The Plan also includes a policy framework and implementation actions to address environmental justice, climate change, and community health.
